Asch and Kate Mikhail Selected to Receive the
Dublin Chamber of Commerce 2018 Business Person of the Year Award

(Dublin, OH) –  The Dublin Chamber of Commerce board of directors is proud to announce that Asch and Kate Mikhail, owners of Sunny Street Café on Hospital Drive in Dublin, have been selected to receive Dublin’s 2018 Business Person of the Year Award. The business community is invited to join the Chamber as Asch and Kate are presented with this award on March 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at BMI Federal Credit Union, 6165 Emerald Parkway in Dublin. Reservations can be made online at //www.DublinChamber.org/BPOY18.

The Business Person of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual(s) who has positively contributed to the betterment of Dublin’s business community. The recipient demonstrates superior leadership and service to Dublin and helps to make this community a better place to live and work.

“We are truly honored to receive this recognition,” said Kate Mikhail, owner of Sunny Street Café on Hospital Drive in Dublin. “Our business philosophy is a deep commitment to our customers, to our employees and to our community, so getting involved and giving back is very important to us.”

In 2005, Asch and Kate made Dublin their home and are proud that their children have attended Dublin City Schools. They opened Sunny Street Café on Hospital Drive in 2010 and made it a way of life to give back to the Dublin community that they love.

They have been members of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce since 2010, and are annual supporters of Dublin’s Community Service Day, an event that brings volunteers together to assist area senior citizens with outdoor spring clean up. In addition, Asch and Kate feature Sunny Street Café’s delicious food every year at Taste of Dublin.

Asch is vice president of the Dublin Food Pantry Board of Directors and is a former treasurer of the Chapman Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. He also is an active member of Dublin A.M. Rotary and the Dublin City Schools Business Advisory Council.

Kate was a 2017 Make-A-Wish “Women Inspiring Strength and Hope” honoree, a former Chapman Elementary Parent Teacher Organization Staff Appreciation committee chair, and a Girl Scouts troop leader.

They consider the Café an extension of themselves because it allows them to help with school fundraisers, local charities, church organizations and other small businesses. Through their business, Asch and Kate provide jobs for about 25 employees including many area high school students.

“Asch and Kate are committed to Dublin and take on community leadership roles, get involved and support the business community,” said Alan Baker, president of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. “They truly believe in Dublin, and are outstanding role models and civic leaders.”

Asch was born in Cairo, Egypt and graduated with a degree in business finance from Miami University and with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. Kate is a graduate of Baker College in Michigan with a dual degree in accounting and computer programming.

Together, they are raising three children: Ava, a fifth grader at Dublin Chapman Elementary; Lexi, a graduate of Dublin Scioto High School and an accomplished artist; and Joel, a graduate of Michigan Career and Technical Institute.
