Meet The Regular: Dale Larsen
If you visit the Sunny Street Café in Wildwood, MO you have a pretty good chance to meet Dale Larsen, a favorite regular. He comes in two or three times a week, and in the words of Kevin, the General Manager, he’s “the nicest guy you ever want to meet.” Dale is conversational, talks with others guests, and generally makes the place a more pleasant one. So who wouldn’t want to get to know Dale better?
MEET THE REGULAR: DALE LARSEN
How long have you been going to Sunny Street?
- I’ve been coming for 4 ½ years. The prices and quality of food are great, and the servers are wonderful, especially Lori. She’s been there for 8 years and is the rock of Gibraltar in that place.
Did you have a favorite activity when you were growing up?
- I grew up in Iowa and played basketball. I was the center- the tall guy is always the center (I’m 6’6”). I also played guitar, mostly rock and roll and the Beetles.
Do you still play guitar?
- I do- I play classical and flamenco guitar. I went to Madrid a few times, but a while ago I heard a flamenco record and was impressed with it. I said to myself “This sounds good, I think I’ll try that.”
Our homage to the best bowl o’red in town: Fast Break- Chili
You’re retired now- what did you do before? And what do you do in your free time now?
- I was a computer consultant with a major transportation company. But now in retirement I’m writing my second book. That takes up a lot of my time. It’s a historical non-fiction about the man that designed the state capitol of Illinois and Iowa. My wife and I generally really enjoy our retirement!
What is your favorite dish at Sunny Street?
- Chili. That recipe- I’m not sure what they put in it but it agrees with me. I love good chili and I think it’s the best I’ve had. I usually get the Southwest Club with a cup of chili for lunch.
